The Title: I Guess

A Group Show by 13 Artists

The Title; I Guess is an interdisciplinary group exhibition of thirteen emerging artists. Just over a year ago, these individuals put together a group exhibition titled, "We’re Not Drawing; We’re Drawing" a Drawing Department exhibition which took place just prior to the 2011 ACAD graduation. It was a collaborative means to bring together works highlighting the diversity and breadth of mediums, concepts, and disciplines by drawing department majors.

Within only a year, some of these individuals have continued in their education, established artistic careers, tried out new fields or moved out of the city. They all continuously pursue new depths of their practices and challenge themselves with the perspectives gained through their unique yet varied experiences. This exhibition is an opportunity to organize a reunion of sorts and showcase a group united by a medium, a department, an assemblage of friends, that is Drawing.

Well, that didn't go as planned. The strong Lethbridge winds ended up ripping two of the letters in half, and taking another two for a ride. Next time, I'll be working with the wind instead :)

Free Wishes - Market Collective

Thanks to everyone who came out and participated, and to Market Collective! Free wishes is coming back home!

Last spring, Jamie Hobbs and I set off to San Francisco to create a community based art project called 'Free Wishes'. It's been a while, but the memories are still fresh. Jamie and I will soon be bringing the project home, at the upcoming Market Collective (Kensington, Calgary), on March 17/18, 2012. Come check out what we will be doing with the space, and cast your wishes for the world to see!

Original project:

“Free Wishes” was a site specific performance I created with Jamie Hobbs in early 2011. The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California is one of the world’s largest tourist attractions. An unfortunate fact is that more people die of suicide at the Golden Gate Bridge than any other location in the world. Jamie and I sought to temporarily change the bridge from a site of tourism and suicide, into a place of wishing by asking participants to freely share these concepts with one another.
